Gloria's Story

Before the birth of BackPain.online, Graeme and Toby were working alongside each other in the clinic.

Graeme told Toby he had a new patient heading in. One of Gloria’s referrals.

Toby looked confused.

“Did I not tell you about Gloria?” asked Graeme.

“Seems not”, replied Toby.

Years before, Graeme had been working a Saturday shift in the clinic on a bank holiday weekend. Having seen all the patients who were booked in, Graeme was preparing to leave.

The phone rang.

Gloria had not been to the clinic before. She had been doing some gardening and suddenly developed some disabling back pain. She was worried.

Graeme explained that the clinic was closing for the bank holiday weekend and that the next available appointments were several days away.

But he asked what was wrong.

Gloria explained what had happened and how she felt. Graeme followed up with a few questions.

He told Gloria that he knew what sort of issue it was.

He gave some advice about she could do to help herself, and what to avoid. He suggested what she could take to help, and what to look out for.

“Don’t worry. It will settle nicely if you look after it properly over the next few days.”

She thanked him for the advice and put the phone down.

And that’s the end of Gloria’s story.

Several weeks later, a new patient came to the clinic to see Graeme. He said that Gloria had sent him.

The next week, another lady came. Also sent by Gloria.

More came over the next few months, and they continue to do so.

But has Gloria ever been to the clinic?

No.

The advice and recommendations that Graeme gave over the phone helped Gloria to look after herself. She got better and tells all her friends how Graeme helped.

Education. Advice. Rehabilitation.

It’s the BackPain.online way.
